When Aberdeen's Sunnybank Park came under threat in 2009, a local community group came together to protect it and to ensure a vibrant future for this much-loved greenspace.
So much has happened since then! There is now a Friends of Sunnybank Park Association, and in February 2011 we finally agreed & signed a lease with Aberdeen City Council, so work could begin on the ground. Already you can see the new allotment site, and the beginnings of many other changes. There are many opportunities to get involved, both in the practical work and in planning what should happen next - check the Facebook and the newsletters, or email us to find out more.
Sunnybank Park's Facebook page has all the latest updates & lots of photos.

You can show your support by becoming a Friend of Sunnybank Park. Click here to download the Friendship Form (Word document 60KB). As well as making a donation, you can use the form to let the management group know which aspects of the park you most want to hear news about and if there's anything you'd like to get involved with - management, fundraising, arts, heritage, sport, hands-on work on nature conservation and maintaining & improving the park itself... or maybe you can suggest something we've missed? - there's also a feedback section where you can let us know what you think & what you'd like to see happening at the park.

The allotment site at Sunnybank Park was set up during early 2011, and allotment holders have been active on their new plots during the 2011 growing season, as well as starting to develop the communal areas of the site. There is now a Sunnybank Park allotments group. Contact them if you'd like to know more about the allotments, if you're interested in having a plot there, or if you've seen anything amiss down at the allotment site:
