When the police finally got the sheep trucks through on Friday night it was after 11pm, when local byelaws forbid the passage of heavy trucks down Colne Road. Something tells me that the police and live exporters will get away with this (after all, none of them have been charged with assault, riot, actual bodily harm, or grevous bodily harm, despite their callous behaviour).
The Mayor of Colchestor has been protesting in the strongest terms about police behaviour and attitude. Brightlingsea Town Council are considering going to the high courts.
